Budapest

After Bratislava, we took a short train ride to beautiful Budapest, Hungary.  Joe had really been looking forward to visiting this city, but Lindsay was skeptical.  It turned out that the three days we spent in this magical city weren't near enough!  There isn't enough information out about Budapest because, well, it is just as magnificent as Prague and Vienna - with a cheaper price tag!  We got a great AirBnB flat right next to Parliament, one of the most beautiful buildings we have ever seen.  Whether cruising around on the hop on/hop off bus, taking the nighttime cruise on the river, or walking the beautiful streets of the city, the entire trip was better than we could have hoped. We didn't even have time to go their world famous thermal baths, so we decided we must return in the future!

One of the things that makes this place unique is that it is actually made up of two parts, Buda and Pest, split by the Danube River down the middle.  The Buda side of the river has historically been the wealthier side and includes things like Buda Castle and the Fisherman's Bastion.  The Pest side includes things like the Parliament building and St. Stephen's Basilica.

There was an amazing street fair in a park just a few minutes from where we stayed.
We had a couple of meals here because the food and atmosphere were fantastic!

The Parliament building is the most beautiful that we've seen yet!

This building is stunning from all angles and at all times of day!

An indoor market/bazaar full of trinkets, food, and great people-watching!

The funicular ride to the top of Buda Hill!

Fisherman's Bastion - one of Joe's favorite places - in Buda

We enjoyed the Danube River cruise so much that we did it twice,
once during the day and again at night!
