Santorini, sunsets, and shenanigans

We finished the school year and began a memorable summer by traveling to the bucket list destination of Santorini, the picturesque Greek Island in the middle if the Agean Sea.  We spent a very memorable and rejuvenating nine days there and here are just a few of the images we captured to remember our time there.

One of our first experiences in Greece was getting a fish pedicure, which Joe loved and Lindsay didn't!

The Parthenon.  Sad to say it was a big letdown, particularly coming only a few weeks after our amazing weekend of exploration around Petra.  Iconic site, yes, but not what we imagined it to be!

A special treat for the trip was the fact that Lindsay's uncle Jim, his wife Mary, and Lindsay's cousins were all in Athens and Santorini at the same time.  This was unplanned and when we found out it added to our excitement for the trip.  We had such a great time exploring some of the great treasures of Greece with them!

The Olympic Stadium in Athens!

Our first sunset in Santorini!

One of the coolest things about Santorini is the fact that the most popular, and most fun way of traveling around the island is via ATV!

Natural wonder found on the far side of the island!
We found an amazing place for gyros and enjoyed these tasty treats several times!

Best gelato we have ever eaten!
It was a true blessing and gift from Jesus to have some family to share the experience with!
The two Joes!

Oia for the world famous sunset.

Red Beach in the background.
We found a lovely place at Perissa Beach to relax and read and returned several days!
We loved being in Europe during the World Cup, it added a lot of fun and excitement to our days and nights.  Here is Joe representing Greece the day of one of their group matches.

We enjoyed a boat trip to an active volcano!

The owner of this store became a good friend to us, God bless Anna and her family!
A beautiful random view from an old goat path on the far end of the island.

Our view for our final Santorini sunset!

We planned our trip to Santorini as a once in a lifetime opportunity, but the experience was so amazing we decided to head back once this second year in Kuwait is finished.  It is truly an extraordinary place!
