Kuwait Harps GAA Club Annual Awards Night

Every Gaelic Club has an annual awards banquet to celebrate the year that has just finished and this tends to be one of the funnest, most craic filled nights of the year!  The Kuwait Harps make sure that is the case for our club.  It was a great way to celebrate all of the success we have had this year, recall some memorable moments both on and off the pitch, and say farewell and see you later to those who are moving on from Kuwait.

We were both also honored to be nominated for multiple awards and Joe even received a couple!  Lindsay was a finalist for Mrs. Congeniality and was listed as one of the players to watch for next year - a great honor considering she started playing in March and only was able to compete in one tournament!  Joe was nominated for and was honored to be named Rookie of the Year for the men's side and he was also selected as a player to watch.  Lindsay was, and is, so proud of him and he was shocked/humbled/honored to receive this honor.  Joe also received a social award - Daddy of the Harps - for always taking care of and looking out for his brothers and sisters in the club.  Joe is especially honored to receive this award, what better legacy than to be known as a great teammate!  Here are some pictures from the night:

Petra!

Joe decided to take advantage of a long weekend and fly back to Jordan for Lindsay's birthday!  Jon picked us up at the airport and we were reunited with him, Jessica, and Amelia for another fun weekend in Jordan!  Having seen most of the major things, except for the big one, on our last visit we decided that this was the perfect time to see the ancient rose city of Petra.  If you don't know about Petra, well, you should!  It is truly one of the most amazing sites on the planet and, if nothing else, you might remember it from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade or Transformers.  We hiked around Petra for two days, over 20 miles and thousands of steps up staircases carved in the sides of mountains.  We saw the most beautiful cave dwellings imaginable and truly enjoyed exploring a city that has been around for 10,000 years!  We are posting a lot of pictures because they deserve being seen!
